Peanut butter Chocolate swirl cupcake..... YUM!

This is the finished Peanut butter choclate swirl cupcake..... however I added banana in the middle.

This is where the recipe came from..... only differance was I put in the fruit in 12 of the 24 it made which did make it quite delicious but also made them fall kind of. Frosting hid it however.

I think I am in heaven....
Tonight/tomorrow morning I will be making peanut butter chocolate cupcakes.... Wish me luck I'll let you know how they go :)

Best News EVER!!!

I don't have enough money, or yet enough experiance to open a bakery. I am a full time mom a full time student and a full time worker. Today I found out that I can sell my baked goods at the farmers market in town for an extremely cheap cost and get my name out there. Also I found out that a law was signed by Jennifer Granholm.... the only ting she did that I like.... called the Cottage Food Law basically saying that I can make baked goods in my home and sell that at communty events. So I am super excited to say that I will be selling my baked goods at the Farmers Market in Otsego County as often as possible, if it goes well I'll be there everyday they are open.

Food Policy & Law

Michigan Cottage Food Law Gets Underway

The Michigan Cottage Food Law, signed by former Democratic Gov. Jennifer Granholm last July, is now taking effect and will likely become a model for legislation in other economically distressed states.

cottagefoodlaws-featured.jpg
Michigan's Food Law of 2000 was amended to define a cottage food seller as "a person who produces or packages non-potentially hazardous food in a kitchen of that person's primary domestic residence."

Sale of allowable foods by a cottage food operation are limited to homes, farm markets, or roadside stands; municipal farmers markets; county fairs; and town celebrations, festivals, and events. The operations are exempt from licensing and inspection by the Michigan Department of Agriculture.

But the new law requires a cottage food operation to label any food it produces or packages with a statement that substantially states the following:  "Made in a home kitchen that has not been inspected by the Michigan Department of Agriculture."

Home kitchen operations cannot produce potentially hazardous foods, and thus are limited to foods that do not require time and temperature controls.  Examples of food items that might be produced in home kitchens are baked goods, jams, jellies, popcorn, candy, cereal, granola dry mixes, vinegar and dried herbs.

Prohibited from home kitchen productions are meat and fish, raw seed sprouts, canned fruits or vegetables like salsa or canned peaches, canned pickled products and pies that require refrigeration.

Also banned are milk and dairy products, cut melons, beverages and ice, cut tomatoes or cut leafy greens, cooked vegetable products, and condiments like ketchup and mustard.

Pet food is also excluded from the cottage food list and sales to local retail stores and restaurants are not permitted.

Any cottage food operation with gross sales of more than $15,000 a year must submit to regular licensing and inspection.

More information on the Michigan Cottage Food Law is available in this Q&A from the state's Department of Agriculture.

Ice cream Cone Cupcakes

I made a preschool class and a kindergarden class very happy with a ton of these cupcakes. They are a cupcake baked in an icecream cone and then frosted and rolled in sprinkles. One of the cuter things I've accomplished thus far.

Race Car Cake

I made this cake for my son's second birthday and I was extremely upset with the outcome. It could have been amazing but I did not allot myself enough time to the project to finish it the way I wanted.

Grandpa Shower

I was asked to make cupcakes for a surprise "Grandpa Shower" at my aunt's work. I made my first red velvet cupcakes and a raspberry lemonade cupcake. Raspberry lemonade was phenominal, I would love to make them again, they were so moist and even after being in the freezer for three days they were amazing. This was the first time I ever made cupcakes for an event and was paid.... I was rather nervous but my aunt said everyone was extremely happy with the product.

Butterfly Garden

So for my now six year old step-daughters birthday party she wanted butterfly cupcakes and so I made a butterfly cupcake garden :). This is so far my favorite project I have completed though since the birthday party was at Burger King playground and I was at work the cupcakes were served out of containers and not set up on a display as I would have liked but they still turned out really well and were eaten quickly by child and adult alike.
* This was a generic chocolate cake recipe with chocolate chips added to make it gooey and super chocolatey. The icing was just a butter frosting with some choclate added.
